The Blyth Festival is looking forward to hosting an enticing literary event.
Blyth Reads Alice will be held on Friday, May 9 at 8 p.m. at the Bayfield Town Hall.
This will be an evening of readings and reflection with a cast of sensational women.
Five dynamic women (and some special guests) will read from their favourite passages of Alice Munro’s work.
Blyth Festival’s artistic director, Eric Coates, will lead a lively discussion – with your participation – on Alice’s writing and its importance to the world of art.
Among the cast of sensational women are: Blythe Wilson, star of Oklahoma at the Stratford Festival; Fiona Reid, truly one of Canada’s leading ladies of theatre, television and film; Laurel Armstrong, Huron County’s own one-women cheering squad; and Tova Smith will be introduced to the audience.
Smith is a graduate of the Stratford Festival Conservatory, National Theatre School, and she will be joining the Blyth Festival’s acting company for the 2008 season.
Also in this extraordinary cast is Marcia Johnson, the talented playwright whose new play, Courting Johanna, is adapted from Alice Munro’s short story, Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage.
Join the festival for this much-anticipated event.
